How does the app count my push-ups?
Lay your iPhone on the floor under your chest: the proximity sensor counts each push-up when your chest comes close. You can also tap the screen with your nose at the bottom of each push-up, or enter a result by hand. iPad and Mac have no proximity sensor: tap the screen or enter your result.
Why a metronome during the max test?
The study behind the app (Yang et al., JAMA Network Open, 2019) tested push-ups at 80 beats per minute and stopped after three missed beats. The app uses the same protocol, so your result can be compared with the study.
Is the challenge only for men?
No. The study only included active men and the app explains that limit, but the goal of 41 is the same for everyone. Your percentile is estimated against people of your age and sex.
Does my progress follow me to my iPad and Mac?
Yes. One purchase unlocks Push to 41 on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and iCloud keeps your tests, sessions, XP and badges in sync. Sign in with the same Apple Account on each device, with iCloud turned on. The sync status is shown in the app’s Settings.
I don’t get my reminders
Allow notifications for Push to 41 in the Settings app on iPhone and iPad, or in System Settings → Notifications on Mac, then check the reminder time in the app’s Settings.
How do I back up or move my data?
In the app’s Settings, Export my data saves a JSON file with your tests, sessions and progress; keep it in Files or iCloud Drive. Import a backup restores it, and replaces the shared data on all your devices.
How do I delete my data?
In the app’s Settings, tap Erase all data, then delete the app. Data in iCloud can also be removed in your device’s settings (Apple Account → iCloud → Manage Storage).
Does the app collect my data?
No. The app has no account, no ads and no tracking. Your data lives on your devices and in your private iCloud, which we cannot read. Details are in the privacy policy.

Push to 41 is an independent app and is not affiliated with Apple Inc. It is not a medical device: check with a doctor before starting a new training program.
